During the 12th century, the temple complex flourished and later fell into the hands of the Sultan of Delhi, Qutb-ud-din Aibak, after the fall of the Chandela rulers. In later years, the temples were consecrated and protected by Muslim rulers. Over the years some temples were torn down and mutilated and were not monitored due to their uninhabited places.
