Rajghat is a memorial in Delhi where Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, was cremated 12 months after his assassination in 1948. The monument in his memory is a simple black marble construction that sits amidst a magnificent backyard. Apart from foreigners and many delegates, the place is visited by the local people to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation. A prayer is held every Friday, the day he died at Rajghat.

Rajghat also houses the samadhi or memorial of prominent leaders of India like Jawaharlal Nehru, Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Giani Zail Singh, Jagjivan Ram, Shankar Dayal Sharma, Devi Lal. Chandrashekhar and I. OK. Gujral. The Raj Ghat, translated into the King's Financial Institution, is referencing its location on the bank of the Yamuna River.

Raj Ghat is a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi as well as a celebration of his illustrious life. Gandhiji's philosophy is projected through image, sculpture and images. His life and philosophy of Sarvodaya movement have also been shown through a film in English and Hindi from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, apart from Thursday, at the Gandhi Memorial Museum at Rajghat. On Sundays it is shown in Hindi at 4 pm and in English at 5 pm.
