India is the largest country in the Indian subcontinent and shares borders with P......n to the northwest, China and Nepal to the north, Bhutan to the northeast, and Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east. Sri Lanka to the south, Maldives to the south-west and Indonesia to the south-east of India in the Indian Ocean. It is the seventh largest country in the world and with over one billion people, it is the second most populous country in the world. It is an extremely diverse country, with vast differences in geography, climate, culture, language and ethnicity, and prides itself on being the largest democracy on Earth.
Situated on the west coast, Goa is the smallest state in India and unlike any other, is known for its endless beaches, stellar nightlife, eclectic seafood, world-heritage listed architecture. Spread over just 3,702 km, Goa is located in the Konkan region. It is far from a hippie haven or a beach getaway, and one of only a few destinations that is open 24x7. Goa's laid-back (Susegad) attracts as many international tourists as it attracts Indians, or even more. The people of Goa are quite tourist friendly and celebrate many festivals throughout the year, the most famous of which are the New Year and the Goa Carnival. While the seafood is excellent, Goa has some of the best nightlife in India with trendy bars, beachfront bars, elegant cafes and numerous clubs and discotheques. For those of us who are always confused between North Goa and South Goa, this might help – the state of Goa is divided into North Goa and South Goa. While North Goa is the nightlife hub with all the tourist beaches, flea markets and beach fringes, South Goa is a land of luxurious resorts and serene beach vibes.Being a Portuguese territory for nearly 450 years, Portuguese architecture is as prevalent as nowhere in Goa – visit one of the many whitewashed churches, crumbling forts or the magnificent churches. Yellow houses with purple doors, ocher-hued mansions and oyster-shell windows complete the kaleidoscope of Goan architecture.Panjim, the centrally located capital city overlooks the serene Mandovi River where Goa's famous floating casinos are docked. The centre is well connected by an international airport and roads and trains running from north to south of Goa. With a coastline of more than 100 kms, Goa has stunning beaches. While Baga and Calangute are more popular with the Indian family crowd, Anjuna and Arambol attract a lot of foreign tourists. Beaches in South Goa are relatively less explored, but some of them like Agonda and Palolem are more beautiful.
Dudhsagar Falls :-
One of the most beautiful waterfalls in India, Dudhsagar Falls is located inside Mollem National Park. The majestic waterfall is about 57 km inland from Cavelossim on the Goa-Karnataka border. Literally translating to the Sea of Milk, the 311-metre-high waterfall is divided into four tiers on the Mandovi River and resembles a huge rush of milk flowing effortlessly down the hill. While most people reach Dudhsagar Falls by jeep or their personal transport from Panaji and surrounding areas, others choose to travel to the falls via train or trekking. The famous Dudhsagar railway track is closed to the public but the trek to the lower falls is still open.Dudhsagar Waterfalls should be visited during monsoons when it is in full flow and the surrounding deciduous forests are at their best. However, the falls are difficult to reach during monsoons and are closed if the water level becomes too high.
Visit Dudhsagar:-
The best period to visit the waterfalls is during the monsoons or immediately after the monsoons, as they are in their most rebellious phase of flow and are at full peak. However, be careful while choosing the trekking routes to Dudhsagar Falls during this season as the area can be quite slippery with the added danger of the river rising. Please note that while the beauty around the waterfall is still spectacular in summer, the falls may not reveal themselves in their full force. Hence, it is best to avoid visiting the falls in summer.
Dudhsagar Trek:-
One of the most thrilling trek trails starts from Kuveshi village. The difficulty level is moderate, and there's more to the blueprint than a long way to go. However, it is not ideal to undertake this trek in the monsoon months as the Mandovi River, over which the trail crosses, can become quite rough and swollen during the monsoon months.
Another trekking route starts from Kulhem/Kolem railway station and stretches for about 11 km. It will take around 6 hours to complete this relatively easy trek. After traversing several railway tracks, the course will also pass through some of the most important points including the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary.
However, the most preferred route starts from Castle Rock station in Karnataka. Stretching for about 14 km, this rough terrain follows the path of railway tracks and tunnels. Once the autumn is approaching, a sliver of greenery and a tinge of the waterfall appears. This wholesome trek, irrespective of the course, will pass through some beautiful scenery such as streams and of course lots of greenery. Make sure you are in good physical fitness before embarking on this path..
