Situated at high altitude, Kalpa experiences moderate climate throughout the year. The winters from October to May are long and cold while the summers from June to September are short. However, the village receives very unpredictable rainfall during the monsoon season. With summer temperatures ranging from 8 °C to 24 °C, light woolen clothing suffices, while winters freeze with minimum temperatures dropping to −15 °C to -20 °C. It is best to visit the city during the summer months.
