✬ Shanti Stupa in Leh is a magnificent white domed Buddhist monument perched atop a steep hill at a height of 11,841 feet. It is a religious place for Buddhists as it houses the relics of Buddha consecrated by the 14th Dalai Lama. It is also popular among tourists as it offers a sweeping view of Leh and the nearby Changspa village. Shanti Stupa looks exceptionally beautiful during full moon nights when it is naturally illuminated by moonlight. ✬
✬ Shanti Stupa was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist monk Gyomyo Nakamura. It was jointly built by Japanese and Ladakhi Buddhists to celebrate 2500 years of Buddhism and promote world peace. It is a part of Shanti Pagoda Mission, which aims to spread peace through Buddha's teachings. Shanti Stupa is a perfect getaway for both- those who wish to find peace by praying to the Lord and those waiting to be mesmerized by the wondrous beauty of nature. ✬
