Munnar is a hill station in Kerala, located in the Idukki district. Situated at a distance of 1600 meters in the Western Ghats, it is one of the most sought and visited travel destinations globally, especially popular among honeymooners. Munnar is famous for its tea gardens, greenery and blankets of mist that form scenic viewpoints.

Munnar is divided into Old Munnar, where the Tourist Information Office is located, and Munnar, where the bus station and most of the guest houses are located. Eravikulam National Park, Bird Sanctuary and Tea Garden are its major attractions. Munnar is also famous for being home to the rare Neelakurinji flowers that bloom once in 12 years (the next flower is in 2030) and the endangered Nilgiri Tahr.

Once the summer resort of the then British Government, the main motive to visit Munnar is to discover the tea gardens that look like blankets of green spread all around. an ideal place for trekking, camping, paragliding and boating. Munnar is often visited along with Alleppey and Thekkady, two of the most popular tourist charm in Kerala.

Munnar is a shopping centre for tea and spices. Homemade chocolates like cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, coffee and many more can be bought from shops spread across the hill town.

Located in Tata Tea's Nallathanni Estate, about 2 km from Munnar, the KDHP Museum displays a variety of antiquities, the most famous of which is an excavated burial urn from around the Periyakanal estate, which dates back to the 2nd century AD . A 30-minute documentary feature by the museum will take you into the historical stay of the place. Visitors then proceed to the factory to understand how the tea is processed..

Kalari Kshethra

The Kalari region is the center of the oldest form of martial arts, Kalaripayattu, and the traditional form of the Indian classical dance, Kathakali. The center organizes performances, workshops and classes which one can opt for to get an essence of ancient art forms.

Atukkad Waterfalls

Situated 2 km from Munnar amidst beautiful hills and lush green forests, this pristine waterfall makes for a romantic getaway and picnic spot. However, the road to Attuk is very narrow and requires a lot of experience to drive. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is perfect for taking a dip!.

1- Depart for a tour of the city in the surrounding areas. Visit the famous lush green tea gardens of Munnar, and enjoy freshly brewed tea prepared from freshly picked tea leaves. Visit waft spot, the most famous place in Munnar. End your day with a visit to the Tea Museum.

2- In the morning leave for Eravikulam National Park. The national park is famous for rich flora and fauna and is home to many endangered species. Spend the day in the national park. Watch some local performances of Kathakali and Kalaripayattu in the evening at Punarjani Traditional Village.

3- Visit Top Station, famous for its beautiful views of the hills. Also, explore some of the popular restaurants in Munnar like Taste The Brew Cafe for breakfast or Rapsy Restaurant for lunch. Afterwards, visit the various waterfalls located on the outskirts of Munnar like Lakkam Falls, Attukkad Falls and Thoovanam Falls.
