Jaigarh Fort Jaipur Rajasthan India

Jaigarh Fort is a grand structure situated on top of the 'Cheel Ka Tila' hills in the Pink City of Jaipur. This grand building was built by Sawai Jai Singh II in 1726 for the protection of Amer Fort. Perched on top of a cliff, it is a palatial structure surrounded by lush greenery and huge warships. This magnificent fort is connected to the Amer Fort through an underground passage and is known as the 'Fort of Victory' as it was never conquered. The fort currently houses the world's largest cannon on wheels - 'Jaywana' and offers a splendid view of the city of Jaipur.

Conceived and designed by a talented architect named Vidyadhar, Jaigarh Fort is said to be the strongest of the three forts and has never faced any major resistance. The fort reflects the city's rich past and is named after the ruler who built it - Sawai Jai Singh II. Apart from its elaborate architecture, the fort is also known for the huge treasure that was believed to have been buried under it. However, it is believed that this treasure was confiscated by the Rajasthan government in the 1970s.
