Bangla Sahib itself has an important history attached to it, and it is believed that the water of the lake here has miraculous healing properties. The Gurudwara was once the bungalow of Raja Jai Singh in the 17th century and was then known as the Jaisinghpura Palace. When the eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishna, visited Delhi in 1664, he stayed in the palace. Due to an unexpected turn of events, an outbreak of cholera and smallpox occurred in the region, which claimed many victims.

According to the teachings of Sikhism, Guru Har Krishna dedicated his services to the afflicted by giving fresh water from the well, the healing power of which cured the sick. Unfortunately, he contracted the same, which resulted in his death on March 30, 1664. Raja Jai Singh built a small tank over the well's water, and it is now believed to cure all kinds of ailments and health problems. It is carried in bottles as souvenirs by devotees visiting Bangla Sahib from all over the world..
