Take a Look
India is a colorful country. From our festivals to our cities, we take colors very seriously. There are interesting stories behind how cities were associated with different colors. are you curious if yes then take a look.
When we think of the colorful cities of India, the first thought that comes to mind is the Pink City. Home to some magnificent forts and lakes, Jaipur was painted a shade of terracotta pink to welcome the Prince of Wales and Queen Victoria in 1876. Later, a law was passed that all buildings and houses in the city should be painted pink.
You know you are in Jodhpur when you see all the houses around the famous Mehrangarh Fort covered in blue. The beautiful city of Jodhpur is blue. This practice was initially started by the Brahmins and later adopted by all the residents of the city. Also, since blue reflects sunlight, it makes homes cooler in summer.
Apart from being called the "City of Lakes" and the "Venice of the East", Udaipur is also known as the White City. thanks to the superb lakes and sublime marble architecture in and around the city. The forts and palaces in Udaipur are all painted with colour and draw huge crowds every year.
The Golden City of Amritsar is home to the holy Harmandir Sahib aka Golden Temple. It is the holiest pilgrimage place for Sikhs but welcomes people of all faiths. Amritsar is the second-largest city in Punjab. When in the city, definitely visit Jallianwala Bagh and Wagah Border.
