About 20 state level fairs are held in Himachal which are recognized by the government. The state is mainly mountainous, but the southern part is made up of fertile plains. There is also a wide variation in temperature due to the huge difference in altitude. Shimla and Dharamsala are the summer and winter capitals of this state respectively.
